Abstract |
This reference lists filmographies and summaries of films based on comic strip characters from biggies like Batman, Blondie, Dick Tracy, and Flash Gordon to fun trivial stuff like Blackhawk, Archie, and Radio Patrol. The author’s Introduction gives a brief history of the comic strip’s evolution to the comic book and eventual branching off into other areas, including motion pictures. The book wraps up with a section on Miscellaneous Entries listing TV specials dealing with comic strips and a complete Index of names and titles. (James L. Neibaurt, in: Film Quarterly 45, 3 (1992) S. 63)
